Ecological bonus: 20 new models added to the list of eligible cars

A total of 20 new models produced in Europe have been added to the list of vehicles eligible for the ecological bonus in France.

Last December, the government released a list of cars eligible for the ecological bonus in France, with ongoing updates based on new models. The Citroën ë-C3 and the Renault 5 E-Tech are among the new arrivals. The government has also revised the bonus criteria for 2024 to include more precise and protectionist standards, though they deny the use of the latter term.

The New Feature of the Bonus in France

The new ecological bonus is now oriented towards vehicles that demonstrate the best carbon footprint. It takes into consideration various environmental factors such as materials used, battery type, factory energy consumption, and vehicle transport impact. This means that cars produced in China and the Tesla Model 3 are excluded. Approximately 65% of electric cars sold in France will be eligible for the new bonus, although it’s important to carefully check the specific variants that are eligible. Most Renault and Stellantis models are included in the bonus, such as the Renault Mégane, Twingo, Zoé, and the future Renault 5 E-Tech. In addition, the ë-C4, the DS 3 E-Tense, the Peugeot e-208, the Fiat 500 and 600, and the Opel Astra and Corsa from Stellantis are also eligible.
