Renault Symbioz: Renault’s future best-seller?

Renault is introducing a new SUV that will fit between the Captur and Austral models in their lineup. Anticipated to arrive in spring 2024, here is everything we know about it so far.

Recent news indicates that there is a growing “war” against SUVs, with some pushing for smaller cars and challenging the prevalence of SUVs. However, Renault seems undeterred by this trend. With the Espace becoming an SUV, the Scenic going fully electric, the introduction of Austral in 2022, and other updates to their existing models, Renault’s focus appears to be on SUVs. And today, Renault is announcing a new C-segment SUV that will fill the gap between the Captur and the Austral.

This new model has been highly anticipated, with rumors suggesting the arrival of a “Grand Captur,” similar to the extended versions of their other models. However, Renault is surprising everyone with the announcement of the Symbioz, a completely new model.

Renault Symbioz: a car designed for living

Sylvia Dos Santos, who oversees brand strategy at Renault, explains that the name Symbioz perfectly represents the idea of living with their vehicle, where passengers and the environment come together. This Symbioz SUV is designed to offer generous space and a large loading volume to accommodate families. It will also feature the new “Solarbay” panoramic roof and the E-Tech full hybrid 145 hp engine that has been seen in other Renault models. With a weight of less than 1,500 kg, Renault promises an enjoyable driving experience and reduced fuel consumption. This new model does not mark the end of the Renault Captur, but it does give us a preview of what the next generation of the Captur could look like. Given the success of the Captur, it is expected that the Symbioz will also appeal to the French and European market.
